| 1. Why do I keep getting an error that the line is busy? |
 |
Usually when you receive busy signals after dialing in, it is because you have a *70 in the phone number, but do not have call waiting. If this is not the case, be sure that the number you are dialing is a local number and that you are not dialing the area code with the number. If you are still getting the line busy error, please call Nsight Telservices for technical support.

| 2. What is High Speed Internet - DSL? |
 |
| DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) is an always-on Internet connection that uses a regular telephone line to the house. Comparing DSL to dialup, DSL is faster (10-15x), is always on (doesn't need to connect each time), and you can use your telephone at the same time you are using the Internet. There are many types of DSL, the most common is ADSL which is Asymmetrical. This means it's download capacity is greater than it's upload capacity. Your Nsight DSL connection is an ADSL connection. |
| 3. What affects my High Speed Internet - DSL connection speed? |
 |
There are a variety of factors that can cause your connection speed you experience to fluctuate, such as:
-Your computer configuration. This depends greatly upon how much RAM (memory) your PC has. If your PC is running slow it may need more RAM.
-Congestion on the Network or Internet.
-The condition of telephone wiring inside and/or outside your service location. If you pick up your telephone and hear static or any kind of noise on the line, this will affect your Internet connection.
-The distance of your telephone line from your Internet Service Provider's serving central office. The further away from the serving central office you are located, the less likely you'll attain the highest DSL speed.
-The server and router speeds of Web sites you access. Each web site you visit has a different speed connection to the Internet. Some sites will take longer to load than others due to their slowly access. Also, if there are a large number of people connecting to the same site, your connection to that site will be slowed down. |
| 4. What is the difference between High Speed Internet - DSL and Cable modem Internet connections? |
 |
| DSL is a dedicated always-on connection to your local telephone exchange/office. Cable modem connections are a shared connection (with everyone on your street who has Cable modem internet service). Speed of the Internet connection fluctuates depending upon how many people are using their Cable modem connection. Since DSL is a dedicated connection, your speed isn't affected by other DSL connections. |
| 5. What should I do if my High Speed Internet - DSL modem, all lights on, no Internet connection? |
 |
The first thing to try is power cycling the modem. To do this, simply unplug the power from the modem for 2 minutes. Once you've plugged the power back in wait for the DSL/link/ADSL light to stop blinking and go solid. The Internet connection should be working at this point. If it is not, please call Technical Support.
If after power cycling the modem the DSL/link/ADSL light keeps blinking, check to make sure the telephone cable is securely plugged into the modem and into the wall. Do this by unplugging each connector and plugging it in again, making sure it 'clicks' when plugged in. If the DSL/link/ADSL light keeps blinking, call Technical Support. |
| 6. Why is my Highs Speed Internet - DSL/link/ADSL light on modem flashing? |
 |
| The DSL/link/ADSL light should be on solid for the Internet connection to work. A flashing light indicates the modem is attempting to establish the Internet connection. Make sure the telephone cable is securely plugged into the modem and into the wall. When the modem is turned on the DSL/Link/ADSL light should only blink for a couple of minutes, if it lasts longer there is a problem with the connection. Please call Technical Support. |
